Show Notes
Parental Warning (we’re joking and we’re serious at the same time!) - Ken’s parents are on Episode 6 of the More with Murphy Podcast.
James and Martha Blackburn, married 29 years this Valentine’s Day, have both lived their fair share of life. Widowed in their first marriages after their spouses (Della Blackburn; Bob Murphy) succumbed to illness over 30 years ago, James and Martha know what it means to have loved and lost. Now, with James facing his own recent cancer diagnosis, they’re facing the same road they’ve walked before with an outlook and an attitude that’s an example for us all.
Together, Jim and Martha share a beautiful blended family with 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren (and growing)!
Before retiring, Jim was a missionary to Haiti for many years and then was the Director of Development and Estate Planning for the American Bible Society. Martha kept busy as a stay-at-home mom (Ken was a handful, we’re sure!) and pastor’s wife before serving as the Director of Women’s Ministries at the Wesleyan Church Headquarters. Today, Jim and Martha travel between their homes in Indianapolis and Florida and try to see as many grandkids’ sporting events and dance recitals as they possibly can.
